Anti-police brutality demonstrators packed a courtroom at the King County Jail Monday to show support for three of their comrades arrested during a protest over the weekend.

A 27-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, and a 24-year-old woman could face felony charges in connection with a Saturday protest in downtown Seattle.

Each are suspected of assaulting a Seattle police officer.

According to court documents, the 27-year-old was arrested near Western Avenue and Bell Street after police say he jumped on an officer’s back and struck him six times in the arm to prevent another demonstrator from being arrested.

When King County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Brandy Gevers told a judge Monday that the man “acted out violently,” supporters in the courtroom called her a liar and shouted as she tried to speak. Two people held a sign that read, “Jail Killer Cops, Not Protesters!”

The 26-year-old man, who was also arrested near the intersection of Western Avenue and Bell Street, is accused of kicking an officer and resisting arrest. The female suspect is accused of spitting on an officer.

A judge set bail at $5,000 for each of the protesters. A second appearance is scheduled for December 10, pending charges.
