Several protest-related events are planned in Seattle throughout the Labor Day weekend.
Refuse Fascism, a group that’s part of a national protest, will march on Saturday at 2 p.m. from Westlake Park.
Organizer Margo Heights said the group wants to ensure President Trump is not reelected in November.
“We’re uniting, we’re organizing, we’re determined, and frankly we’re prepared to struggle with everything we’ve got until the Trump-Pence regime is driven from power and this fascist program is brought to a halt,” Heights said.
She says the group wants to ensure the protest remains completely peaceful.
Heights said her group is marching in 24 cities across the country, and they’re increasing their presence ahead of the November election.
On Sunday, there is a rally at Cal Anderson Park from 4-7 p.m. “to protest the reprehensible treatment of Seattle’s most marginalized communities by the Seattle Police Department.” This event is organized by Seattle Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
A workers rally is planned for Labor Day in front of the International District transit station at 4 p.m. A march begins at 5 p.m. The event description reads, “Calling all workers! 101 days of protests in Seattle! Stand up against police units! Cops aren’t workers!”
