Evacuations have been issued near the Kittitas County unincorporated community of Teanaway for a wildfire, as shown on the Kittitas County Live Active Fire Map.

The Red Bridge Fire, approximately 7 miles east of Cle Elum, is currently around 53 acres as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Watch Duty map.

Two homes have been damaged by the fire, KIRO 7 reported.

Level 3 evacuations are in place for the area north of Red Bridge Road between Wheil Ridge Road and the Teanaway River, Watch Duty stated. Level 2 evacuations were issued from State Route 970 to Red Bridge Road and from Teanaway Road to the Teanaway River.

Red Bridge Fire currently ‘smoldering within its current perimeter’

“The fire is currently smoldering within its current perimeter,” the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team reported via Facebook Tuesday.

The fire was at 200 acres, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported via X Monday. Only 50 acres were reported at 4:45 p.m., but the fire grew to 200 acres by 5:05 p.m.

The fire was then reported at 60 acres just before 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Multiple ground and air resources have been responding to the fire, DNR stated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to KIRO 7.
