Redmond, Bellevue car chase ends after 3 collisions, spike strips finally slow driver

Apr 9, 2014, 7:44 AM | Updated: 8:22 am

It took police spike strips and three collisions to finally put a stop to an hour-long reckless driving spree Tuesday night in Bellevue and Redmond.

Redmond Police Officer Mike Dowd said emergency operators received numerous reports of the same car driving recklessly through Bellevue and Redmond.

According to Dowd, the 30-year-old woman behind the wheel is accused of hitting two other vehicles and a tree.

The pursuit Tuesday night ended in a crash in the 9000 block of Avondale Way in Redmond, after officers set up spike strips on the roadway.

“The female driver was trapped in the vehicle, so our fire guys had to do the extrication and transported her to Harborview,” said Dowd. “She possibly had some injuries too, possibly some broken legs.”

Investigators think she might have been driving under the influence.

None of the other drivers were seriously injured.

KIRO Radio’s Bob Larson contributed to this report.
