On his way to the 101 Awards this weekend, Richard Sherman took the opportunity to plea for a different Seattle sports team.

“On the way to (Kansas City,) still in my Sonics jacket, still trying to bring the Sonics back,” Sherman said in a video made for BleacherReport.com.

Sherman referred to the 2008 move of the Seattle SuperSonics to Oklahoma City as “ice cold.”

“Come on NBA, looking at you,” he said. “Bring ’em back. We need more rings in Seattle. The Sonics were just doing their thing. We had just gotten KD (Kevin Durant) and you hit just like that.”

Sherman also used the video as an opportunity to try and recruit Cleveland Cavaliers’ Lebron James for some playground football. “If you’re up for it, maybe I play corner, but everybody knows I do that. Nobody has seen my quarterbacking skills yet. They haven’t seen your receiver skills yet. I don’t know, there might be something there.”

On Saturday, Sherman was named the Defensive Player of the Year at the 101 Awards in Kansas City. He gave an early acceptance speech on BleacherReport, too. “I’m thankful for a chance to play every week, get through a season healthy, thankful for my teammates who allow me to be in a position to get an award like this.”
