Sea-Tac refuelers head to court

Oct 17, 2012, 6:13 AM | Updated: 7:29 am

A federal judge is expected to hear arguments Wednesday over whether non-union airplane refuelers at Sea-Tac Airport have the right to walk off the job.

The workers refuel about 75 percent of the flights at Sea-Tac.

They want to strike to change the working conditions at the airport. They claim they are forced to use damaged trucks with faulty hoses, and they are retaliated against when they raise concerns.

The company, ASIG, says this is all an attempt by outside agencies to get the workers to unionize to get better pay and benefits.

The FAA recently inspected all the equipment and found no safety issues.

A federal judge already prevented the workers from walking off the job until he could hear the case Wednesday.
