Seahawks Earl Thomas donated $15,000 to a Seattle charity to buy blankets for people experiencing homelessness.
Thomas donated the money to Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, according to the Christian Examiner. And he’s asking Seahawks fans to follow his lead and donate to the mission.
The Seahawk’s donation comes as a relief to the Union Gospel Mission, which has had a shortage of blankets this season — its normal supplier has been sold out. More expensive blankets are therefore the next option.
Thomas said his donation was partially inspired by his own experience — his family “lost everything” during the Hurricane Rita in 2005.
