Seahawks ticket prices hit new high for Saints rematch

Jan 6, 2014, 2:41 PM | Updated: Jan 7, 2014, 10:24 am

Ticket prices are going through the roof for Saturday’s NFC divisional playoff game between the Seahawks and Saints.

The only way to get tickets is on the secondary market through sites like Stub Hub, where the average price is going for $415, according to ticket tracking and resale company SeatGeek.

“It’s actually the most expensive game we’ve ever seen since we started tracking this kind of data in 2009,” says SeatGeek communications analyst Connor Gregoire.

The average price is a sharp increase over the two previous highs for Seahawks games earlier this season, where tickets for the NFC West showdown with the 49ers averaged $350. Ticket prices are 35 percent higher than the regular-season “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Seahawks and Saints on Dec. 2, where tickets averaged $308 on the secondary market.

The least expensive ticket available on the secondary market for Saturday’s game is going for $203 for standing room only in the far upper reaches of CenturyLink, according to Gregoire.

The game is the most expensive of the four divisional playoff games this coming weekend. The average price of the Broncos-Chargers matchup in Denver is $355 with seats starting at $160. Ticket prices are averaging $276 for the 49ers-Panthers tilt in Carolina with the lowest price starting at $176. Tickets for the Patriot-Colts showdown in Foxboro, Mass. are averaging $195 per ticket, with seats starting at $114.

If the Seahawks defeat the Saints, ticket prices for the NFC Championship at CenturyLink Field will go for significantly higher, Gregoire says.

“You know it’s possible the 49ers could come into town the following weekend in the NFC Championship game, which would blow this one out of the water as well.”

The least expensive tickets for the potential title game are already selling for $477 each, with the average price soaring to $810 per ticket.
