The Seahawks’ recent play isn’t the only thing ugly, at least according to Fox Sports, which ranks Seattle’s uniforms among the ugliest in the NFL.
The very unofficial and clearly uneducated rankings say the Seahawks have the 4th ugliest uniforms in the league, with only the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers faring worse.
“The Seahawks were dealt a bad hand when they entered the NFL in 1976 with a green, blue and silver color palette,” Fox Sports says. “You wouldn’t wear green with blue, and your football team shouldn’t either.”
The ranking says things got better with the uniforms of the Holmgren era, but “quickly got out of control when Nike took over NFL jersey designs in 2012.”
“The greenish/yellow color of the trim is wholly unacceptable on its own, but when boldly patterned down the side of the pants, it’s downright garish. Also, the reptilian scale pattern on the numbers is a minus, not a plus,” Fox Sports says.
The rankings only evaluated the team’s dark-jersey base uniforms, but still, come on. There are plenty of 12’s who would strongly disagree – and a lot of others. After all, Russell Wilson’s jersey is the most popular seller according to the NFL Players Association.
So who’s number one? It’ll pain the 12s, but the rankings say the hated San Francisco 49ers have the best looking uniforms in the league. The justification is pretty weak, just calling it a classic, basic design.
As they say, there’s no accounting for taste.
What do you think of the Seahawks uniforms and whose look do you like best?
