A “Welcome Back Bash” was held at Seattle City Hall on Tuesday to recognize and celebrate city and county employees returning to the office, as well as those who worked in the field over the last several years.

“For all our returning public employees, and those who never left, thank you for your service as we build a brighter future for the people of our region,” said Mayor Bruce Harrell in a tweet on Tuesday. “Because you stepped up – even while lives and livelihoods were upended – our region is recovering and reopening.”

The event featured food trucks and performances by local artists King Youngblood and The Black Tones.

Harrell announced his plans for city of Seattle employees to return to the office during his 2022 state of the city address.

More than 65% of city employees were working in-person or in the field as of February 2022. The 35% of employees who were working remotely began returning to the office in mid-March.
