A Seattle police officer is recovering Monday morning after being head-butted by a suspect in the Rainier Valley.

The officer was breaking up a fight on Rainier Avenue around 11:30 p.m., Sunday night. When the two men were separated, one of them ran off. Several officers chased him down and arrested him, but while walking back, the man head-butted the female officer in the face.

“The suspect was interviewed,” Detective Jeff Kappel said. “He’s a 20-year-old male, and he will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault on a police officer.”

The officer is going to be OK. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
