Speak Out Seattle held its fourth city council candidate forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday for the District 7 race at the Magnolia Community Center.

See video of the full forum here.

There are plenty of candidates aiming to replace Councilmember Sally Bagshaw, who is not running for re-election. The forum was moderated by KIRO 7’s Deborah Horne.

A total of nine candidates took part:

  • Elizabeth Campbell
  • Daniela Eng
  • Michael George
  • Don Harper
  • Naveed Jamali
  • Isabelle Kerner
  • Andrew Lewis
  • Jim Pugel
  • Jason Williams

District 7 covers a considerable portion of Seattle, including downtown, Pioneer Square, Magnolia, and Queen Anne.

The candidate field has a few notable names, such as Jim Pugel, a former interim Seattle police chief. He has raised $41,436 for his campaign as of April 14.

Naveed Jamali is a former intelligence officer for the FBI and Navy Reserve, working to counter Russian intelligence. He says he’s already received threats since he entered the race. So far, he has raised $6,476.

Elizabeth Campbell should be familiar to Seattleites through various headlines she has garnered as a local activist. She has also run for various other positions in Seattle, filed complaints over city policy, and has sued officials over construction of the SR 99 tunnel.

Other candidates have stuck out in terms of their fundraising efforts. Andrew Lewis has taken in $42,975 so far. Michael George has raised $35,470.
