Everyone appears to be in a big hurry these days.

Seattle Police Officer Louie Olivarez told KING 5 the stereotype that Seattle has slow-poke drivers is just not true.

But he said it’s not the kids you might expect to be speeding through Seattle streets.

“It’s the older drivers. The kids – it’s rare. I can’t remember the last time I cited someone under 18 years old,” said Olivarez.

He said he routinely cites drivers for going anywhere from 15 to 50 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

The other big ticket offense is drivers who talk on their cell phones, which Olivarez said was as bad as drunk driving.

KIRO Radio’s Bob Larson contributed to this report.
