Jul 19, 2012, 5:37 PM | Updated: 7:01 pm

A couple spotted a man on a the ledge of a ravine at Carkeek Park Thursday morning. When the man was rescued, Seattle Fire learned he had been down there all night.

The Seattle Fire Department technical team rescued the 48-year-old man who fell about 60 feet down on Wednesday night.

“He felt he couldn’t move, so our firefighters basically lifted him about 60 feet up, using rope, and our firefighters carried him about a quarter of a mile up that steep trail,” said Spokesman Kyle Moore.

The man was walking the trail late last night in flip-flops when he slipped and fell about 15 feet down the hill. He fell another 40 feet trying to get back up the hill and laid there until firefighters were able to make the rescue.

The man was dehydrated, and complaining of leg pain but officials say he will be okay. He was taken to Harbor View Medical Center.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
