A fire started at a Seattle dog daycare facility just before 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 13000 block of Lake City Way NE., with firefighters successfully rescuing all of the dogs.

Aerial footage showed dogs being corralled at a nearby business while crews cut holes in the roof of the business. PSR Mechanical, an HVAC company across the street, sheltered about 40 dogs within its gates while waiting for owners to get them.

“We just said, ‘what can we do?’ ” asked Deann Fields, a PSR Mechanical employee. “So, we started locking up our gates and allowing the dogs to come in.”

King County Animal Control took dozens of other dogs to safe locations where they could wait to be picked up.

The Dog Resort told KIRO Newsradio that three dogs were given oxygen, but all the dogs were accounted for and are safe. All workers were accounted for and safe as well.
