After nearly a year, Seattle Police have gathered enough evidence to arrest a man in the death of his elderly mother.
The 89-year-old woman died in her home last October. She weighed only 58 pounds and appeared to have been neglected.
The woman was being cared for by her 56-year-old son in their south Beacon Hill home.
Detectives spent the last year looking for evidence of neglect after questions were raised by the medical examiner and some state agencies.
The Seattle Police Department says the investigation did find a long pattern of abuse in the case.
On Monday, the man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He has not been charged.
