A Seattle police detective who posted sexually explicit photos of his ex-lover online in an attempt to “ruin her life” has now been fired by the department, KIRO Radio has learned.

David N. Blackmer, 44, of Everett, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor cyberstalking/domestic violence and was sentenced to 90 days in jail on January 8.

As KIRO Radio first reported, Blackmer, a 17-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department, was arrested in July 2013 for investigation of felony identity theft, domestic violence and cyberstalking.

According to court documents, Blackmer began an affair with a woman he met through an online dating service in December 2012. The affair ended when the woman found out Blackmer was married and confronted him at his home in front of his wife on July 17, 2013.

“During the argument, (the victim) stated Blackmer became angry that (she) was at his residence and Blackmer used his open hands and pushed (her) off the porch,” according to court documents. “Also during the altercation, (the victim) stated Blackmer grabbed her neck with one hand and pushed her to the ground on her buttocks.”

According to the woman, Blackmer threatened to “ruin her life” and “get back at her” for exposing their relationship. After the confrontation, police said Blackmer activated a fake Facebook account under the woman’s name and used it to post sexually explicit photos he took of her during sex.

“Additionally, (the victim) observed photographs she had taken of herself wearing various outfits in front of a mirror in her residence and had previously texted and emailed to Blackmer at his request for ‘sexy’ pictures,” the documents said.

According to the victim, her “mother, brother, aunts, underage children of her aunts, friends, and people in her church” saw the photos and “expressed their shock” that she would engage in such activity.

“The woman told our investigators that these postings caused her embarrassment and fear,” Seattle police Sgt. Sean Whitcomb told reporters at a press conference after the arrest was made public.

Shortly after his arrest, Blackmer checked into a drug and alcohol treatment center in Stuart, Fla.

The Seattle Police Department placed Blackmer, who was a member of the Criminal Investigations Unit, on paid administrative leave while an investigation took place.

Blackmer was fired by Interim Chief Harry Bailey on Monday, following an April 29 Loudermill hearing afforded to all officers who are the subject of an internal investigation.

Seattle Police Guild President Ron Smith said Friday that he believes the punishment is appropriate.

“I feel the conduct was egregious and I don’t believe the chief had any other choice in this case but termination,” Smith said.

Blackmer did not immediately return a call for comment Friday. A spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department confirmed that Blackmer had been fired, but declined to comment further.
