The search for a bank robber in northeast Seattle prompted the Seattle School District to order five schools to shelter in place for a time early Friday afternoon.
Seattle police were searching for the bank robber near the 7500 block of 35th Ave NE just before noon Thursday. The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s, 5’3′, wearing a denim jacket and jeans, along with a black hat. He may be armed.
Eckstein Middle School, Bryant, Thornton Creek, View Ridge, and Wedgwood Elementary were all ordered to shelter in place for about 30 minutes.
When a school shelters in place, doors are locked but teaching continues as normal.
