Suspect dead after standoff with Seattle police, prompted by an officer-involved shooting

The suspect in the standoff with Seattle Police near the 3200 block of E. Madison Street in Seattle is dead, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) confirmed.
The standoff ended Friday morning at 10:45 a.m. following an officer-involved shooting. SWAT teams and the Seattle Police Department (SPD) were negotiating with the suspect, who barricaded himself after allegedly shooting his girlfriend and firing shots at officers. A shelter-in-place order, now lifted, was issued for nearby residents at 7:45 a.m.
“They don’t know, however, if he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, or in the exchange early this morning around 5 a.m. with Seattle police officers, if one of those bullets hit the suspect,” KIRO reporter Luke Duecy said.
The suspect was described as a 53-year-old white male with a previous criminal history.
“He had served time for a double homicide in the past, and he had been out of prison for years now,” Duecy added.
According to KIRO Newsradio, three SPD officers responded to a domestic violence disturbance when a woman ran out of the building with an injury. Officers quickly determined she had been shot, and took her to a nearby hospital.
“A call went out regarding a domestic violence disturbance,” SPD Chief Shon Barnes said. “Officers responded four minutes later and discovered a female in the front yard who ran to the officer’s arms. The female collapsed, and we discovered that she had been shot.”
The suspect, the woman’s boyfriend, fired at police from inside the building, prompting one SPD officer to fire back. The shooting happened at approximately 4:50 a.m.
No officers have been injured, as of this reporting.
