Seattle police arrested eight people Tuesday night for pedestrian interference, obstruction, assault on an officer, reckless driving, and criminal mischief.

SPD officers say they issued a dispersal order to one of two groups, this one was at Broadway and Pine in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The SPD also reports that some people in the group moved barriers into the roadway.

The two groups started in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood just before the first batch of election results was released on Tuesday night.

The Seattle Police Department, Seattle Fire Department, and other local law enforcement agencies have been planning for a “wide range of scenarios” that could take place on election night.

King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht told the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH that the Sheriff’s Office has been preparing for anything.

“I think everybody is preparing for any events that might happen, and so we want to make sure that we have thought of public safety first,” she said. “And at the sheriff’s office, we’re prepared for staffing up and having a command post, and preparation for anything that might happen.”
