One person was seriously hurt during a knifepoint carjacking in the Madison Valley neighborhood of Seattle early Wednesday.

It happened on East Madison Street at 29th Avenue East, where city utility crews are at the scene working to restore power after a power pole fell on a building Tuesday.

KIRO 7 TV first heard about the incident around 5:20 a.m. A Seattle utility worker was carjacked at knifepoint.

Seattle police said the suspect hit a person as they fled.

Around 6 a.m., Seattle police said they found and were pursuing the suspect near Northeast 59th Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast in the University District.

University of Washington Police sent out an alert saying students should avoid a Seattle Police investigation at 17th Avenue Northeast between 47th and 50th streets.

As of 6:51 a.m., Seattle police tweeted that the suspect was arrested at the junction of 17th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 47th Street. Streets in the area will be closed during the investigation.
