Seattle firefighters rescued a person from the water near the middle of the I-90 bridge on Monday morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) initially responded to the person in the water, SFD announced.

Minutes later, a rescue swimmer was in the water to retrieve the individual. SFD noted that the person was eventually pulled onto a rescue watercraft, heading toward the shore for evaluation.

In an update at 6:51 a.m., SFD noted that the patient was on the shore and being evaluated by medical personnel.

Traffic was being diverted into the two left lanes of eastbound I-90, and SFD advised travelers to be cautious throughout the area.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
