Seattle woman gets stolen bike back after spotting it on front of Metro bus

Dec 2, 2013, 1:28 PM | Updated: 1:51 pm

A Seattle woman has gotten her stolen bike back back after spotting it on the front of a Metro bus.

Beth Gunn discovered her cherished Raleigh Intrigue was recently taken from the bike parking area of her Queen Anne apartment building after returning from vacation.

The Seattle Bike Blog reports the loss was devastating, since the bike was her only way around.

Call it luck or good karma, but as Beth walked down the street recently she spotted the bike coming her way on the front of a Rapid Ride D bus. She wasn’t about to let it get away.

Beth stood in front of the bus and told the driver the bike was hers and she wasn’t moving until she got it back.

She says several people, likely the thieves, left the bus through the back door when they saw her talking to the driver. No one claimed ownership of the bike when the driver asked and a Metro supervisor ultimately let her take the bike.

Beth says several other bikes have been stolen from the apartment’s bike parking and she tells the bike blog she’s now keeping hers in her apartment instead.
