Seattle’s ‘man in tree’ found unfit to stand trial, will remain in psychiatric hospital

The man who spent 25 hours atop an 80-foot-tall sequoia tree in downtown Seattle will not be tried for now.
Cody Lee Miller was found not competent to stand trial on Tuesday. Miller will spend another 45 days at Western State Hospital, according to The Seattle Times.

Miller, 29, was charged with first-degree malicious mischief and third-degree assault after climbing the tree and allegedly throwing items at police and firefighters, including branches and a piece of metal.
Miller has been held on $50,000 since climbing the tree in March.
Lisa Gossett, Miller’s mother, said previously the family has tried to get him help for mental illness but was told there was nothing anyone could do unless he posed a danger to himself or others.
The incident gained national attention as it quickly spread through social media. A Twitter account was setup specifically for Miller, who most only knew as Man In Tree until he finally game down.
