Semi-truck driver airlifted after major crash on SB I-5

The driver of a semi-truck was airlifted with potentially life-threatening injuries after a crash Thursday morning. (WSP)

Update at 1:32: All southbound lanes on I-5 at West Street in Chehalis are open, but a 7-mile backup remains.

A semi-truck that crashed near milepost 78 in the southbound lanes of I-5 in Chehalis early Thursday morning was driving northbound at the time of the crash, according to trooper Will Finn.

The truck crossed over the center barrier and rolled.

The driver of the semi-truck was airlifted to a hospital after the crash. Finn says the crash sent debris into the northbound lanes.

A total of three vehicles were involved. One person was reportedly trapped.
