Sex offender arrested at Washington State Fair

A sex offender is under arrest for what allegedly happened inside a restroom at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup Wednesday night.

Police Capt. Scott Engle says a 39-year-old man stood at a urinal right next to a boy, even though several other spots were available.

“The victim asked: ‘are you watching me?’ The offender did not respond and then the victim observed the offender begin to masturbate while the victim was trying to use the restroom,” said Engle.

The boy confronted the man, who ran out of the restroom.

“And as soon as the victim came out of the restroom building, he observed a security officer and he immediately flagged him down and reported what had happened,” said Engle.

The man was arrested later in another part of the fairgrounds and booked for felony voyeurism, indecent exposure, and disorderly conduct.

Engle said the man was a level two sex offender in 1995, but is not currently required to register.
