A 56-year-old man is dead after Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies shot him Sunday evening in Parkland.

Authorities said deputies were called to reports of a man who was armed with a knife and threatening to kill his family members.

It was in the 500 block of 115th Street South where an intoxicated man reportedly said he would kill police if they came to the location, officials said.

Officials said when deputies arrived, they were confronted on the porch by the armed suspect.

Deputies fired shots, hitting the man, and then performed CPR, officials said.

Officials said the man died at the scene and is believed to live at the home where the shooting happened.

The officer-involved shooting investigation will be conducted by detectives from the Tacoma Police Department, authorities said.
