An apparent ransomware attack is disrupting operations at Shoreline Community College.

Some classes and tests are taking place on campus.

Because the college’s Internet and Wi-Fi are shut down, many staffers and students are working from home.

Shoreline Community College spokesperson Cat Chiappa [CHAP-a] says anyone who is able to use a hotspot or alternative internet source can access the internet on campus right now.

Chiappa couldn’t at this point say whether the hackers had accessed any sensitive data.

No estimate of when the problem may be resolved.

Last month, a hacker hit the Edmonds School District, gaining access to information about families and staff that could expose them to identity fraud.

The district’s internet and email were offline for two weeks.
