The search continues in south Seattle for a robber who fired a shot during a bank robbery in the Rainier Valley.
A number of Seattle schools were ordered to “shelter in place” as police searched for the suspect who held up a Washington Federal bank branch in the 9300 block of Rainier Avenue South around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
No one was injured.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s wearing a curly wig and sunglasses and a brown rain coat.
The schools affected included Southshore K-8, Southlake, Rainier Beach High School, Dunlap, Emerson and Rainier View Elementary, a Seattle School District spokesperson said. The shelter in place was lifted just before 1:30 p.m.
Seattle Police say the suspect managed to slip away. They’re investigating whether the suspect might be involved in at least two other recent robberies in the Seattle area.
