Smoke was spotted lingering along the SR 99 viaduct in downtown Seattle during the Friday morning commute.

The smoke was seen lingering around Pike Street and wafting over the viaduct.

The Seattle Department of Transportation tweeted a notice about the smoke and stated the Seattle Fire Department was investigating the matter. The fire department representative, however, said that no crews have been dispatched to investigate any smoke on SR 99.

The Seattle Times reported that the smoke was actually diesel exhaust billowing from the old tunnel underneath the viaduct.
