Inmate found dead in Snohomish County jail cell Wednesday morning

A female inmate died in her jail cell Wednesday morning, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

While doing routine checks, a corrections officer found the 58-year-old woman unresponsive in her cell at approximately 7:25 a.m. Wednesday.

Staff tried to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of her death is under investigation.

The woman was in jail for loitering, possession of a controlled substance, and a “Stay Out of Drug Area” violation. She was booked into jail on April 20.
