South Carolina tries to lure Puget Sound aerospace suppliers

Jun 11, 2013, 3:51 PM | Updated: 4:45 pm

An all-expenses trip the Masters golf tournament is just one incentive recruiters are using to lure Puget Sound aerospace suppliers to South Carolina.

The recruiters represent business interests in the area of Boeing’s new manufacturing plant in South Carolina.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports recruiters have made three or four visits in the last year. Besides the freebies, the recruiters point out the lower wages and lower cost of living in South Carolina.

Bruce Kendall, with the Economic Development Board of Tacoma-Pierce County says so far, suppliers are plenty busy with Boeing work here to consider a move to South Carolina.

Kendall plans a little recruiting of his own during a trip to the Paris Air Show next week.
