South Seattle gun battle kills one, injures another

One man is dead and another is in critical condition Wednesday morning after a gun battle in South Seattle.
People inside a home on South 102nd Street near the Rainier Country Club heard a series of gunshots about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Then they heard the sound of a running engine outside. They found a car crashed into a tree and two men shot inside. The passenger was dead. The driver was clinging to life.
The occupants of the vehicle were not the only things hit in the gunfire.
“We know there was at least one other house and one other vehicle in the neighborhood struck by gunfire,” said Sergeant Cindi West.
Witnesses at a house in reported hearing two vehicles at the time of the shooting but West says that can’t be confirmed. One gun was found in the victim’s car.
The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
West says it’s unknown if the shooting was gang related.
