South Whidbey schools on precautionary “lockout”

Feb 23, 2012, 9:24 AM | Updated: 11:48 am

Schools in the South Whidbey School District are on
“lockout” after a former student who once threatened a
teacher went missing.

The student, who hasn’t been in school since last fall, is
considered a missing person and both the Langley police and
Island County Sheriff are trying to locate him, according to Dr. Jo Moccha, South Whidbey school superintendent.

“There is no immediate threat and we put out an all call to
parents letting them know that,” Moccha said.

All doors except the front door are being kept locked as a
precaution in the Langley area school to control access,
according to Moccha. She says it is a purely precautionary measure and the district would rather err on the side of caution, and insists there is no reason for alarm.
