The Space Needle Corp. first flew the flag in 2010 and then again in 2011.

Just as the top of Seattle’s most famous landmark turned from green to white, there’s a request to bring color back to the top of the Space Needle.

The owners of the Space Needle are being asked again to fly the rainbow flag for Pride month in June.

Ten LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) organizations have put in the request to the private owners and managers.

The Space Needle Corp. first flew the flag in 2010 and then again in 2011. Last year, amid the campaign to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington state, it did not raise the flag.

A decision on whether or not to fly it this year has not been made.

According to The Seattle Times, CEO Ron Sevart says the Space Needle receives requests from a wide range of organizations and interest groups and considers each individually.

KIRO Radio’s Bob Larson contributed to this report.
