SPD officer investigated for getting physical with suspect in wife’s assault

A Seattle Police officer is being investigated after getting physical with a suspect who had just roughed up his wife.

The on-duty officer showed up near Seattle Central Community College Monday night after his wife, who is also a Seattle cop, was assaulted during an arrest attempt.

She and a fellow officer had found a group of people drinking cinnamon whiskey. One of them refused to stop and punched the female officer in the face. He then punched the second officer, and all three ended up on the concrete wrestling around for about four minutes.

The husband showed up about that time and mixed it up with the suspect, who was under arrest. The two had to be separated.

Officers at the scene, including the husband, reported the questionable contact to the department. He has been reassigned during an investigation.
