Speeders in Seattle school zones are paying out big

Cameras put in front of just a few Seattle schools to catch speeding drivers are already raking in the dough for the city.
The city could bring in more than $1 million this month if the tickets keep going out at the rate they did in December.
The mayor’s office says they hope they don’t make that much money and that drivers change their habits to avoid the $189 fine.
The speed-enforcement cameras are only installed outside four Seattle schools right now and the Seattle Times reports nearly half of the tickets that have gone out so far were to drivers speeding by Thurgood Marshall Elementary School on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.
You don’t have to be a speed demon to get caught by the cameras. Seattle Police say if you go even one-mile per hour over the 20-mile per hour limit you can expect to see a ticket in the mail.
