Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers are investigating a fatal drive-by shooting that occurred on SR 167 near Auburn Thursday evening.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they found a man dead in the driver’s seat of a car on the right shoulder of the freeway. The shooting allegedly happened just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

A witness on the scene told troopers they thought they saw a 1990s maroon Ford Explorer and a 2018 silver Subaru BRZ as possible suspect vehicles that left the scene. WSP troopers are looking into these two cars of interest. Troopers determined the victim was shot multiple times while driving in the center lane.

All lanes of northbound SR 167 in Pacific, just north of Ellingson Road, were closed Thursday evening during the investigation. The lanes have since reopened.

Anyone with additional information related to this shooting is asked to contact WSP.
