State Patrol arrests 21 on suspicion of boating under the influence over Seafair weekend

The Washington State Patrol arrested 21 on suspicion of boating under the influence over Seafair weekend, according to a spokesperson with the law enforcement agency.
State Patrol deployed eight officers to Lake Washington over the Aug. 6 weekend in preparation for festivities.

2022 was the first year a complete Seafair festival was held, not seen since 2019.
All state agencies supervising Seafair had at least one Washington State Patrol officer on board in anticipation of an increased amount of alcohol-related impairment on Lake Washington.
Boating under the influence penalties resemble that of driving, a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and $5,000 in fines.
