The father-in-law of missing Puyallup mom Susan Cox-Powell is scheduled to be released from a Washington state prison one month from Tuesday, according to the Department of Corrections.

Steven C. Powell, 63, is incarcerated at the Monroe Correctional Complex. His release date is set for May 23, 2013, said DOC spokesperson Chad Lewis.

Powell was convicted on multiple counts of voyeurism for taking photos of young girls in his Puyallup, Wash., neighborhood without their knowledge. Prosecutors successfully argued that the photos, which showed the girls bathing and using the toilet, were taken for his sexual gratification.

Powell was sentenced to 30 months in prison, but was given credit for time served and good behavior.

Powell was arrested in September 2011 after a search of his home turned up the images. Detectives were looking for evidence in an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Susan Cox-Powell, who vanished from her Utah home in December 2009.

Her husband, Josh Powell, who was a person of interest in the case, killed himself and their two young sons in an explosion at his rental home in Graham, Wash., on Feb. 5, 2012.
