$10,000 worth of stolen LEGO sets spark community-wide hunt in University Place

Nearly $10,000 worth of LEGO sets were stolen in a recent burglary at Sasquatch Bricks in University Place. The store is asking people to watch for the stolen items in secondhand markets.

The theft happened early last Thursday morning, with burglars loading a U-Haul truck outside the store. Cellphone footage from a nearby apartment captured the incident, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

On February 13, the store shared details on Facebook, informing the public and other LEGO sellers about the stolen sets.

Store owner Scott Nelson said there have been no updates in the case. He noted that the LEGO sets haven’t shown up in other resell stores, and local customers haven’t seen anything pop up on online marketplaces.

“We’re hoping the police can track the U-Haul,” Nelson said.

This theft follows a rise in LEGO robberies across the U.S. In December, two people were arrested in Texas for stealing over $400,000 worth of LEGO sets. Earlier this month, a former banker was accused of helping sell stolen LEGO sets from Walmart and Target in the Charlotte area.
