Investigators need your help finding a man accused of raping a woman in her own garage in Shoreline.

A woman pulling into her garage after work was raped and robbed Saturday night in Shoreline. King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cindi West said the suspect took the woman by surprise around 10:30 p.m.

“She heard somebody call to her. And suddenly this suspect appeared, pulled out a gun, and then struck her with the gun, and then took her inside her open garage and sexually assaulted her,” West said.

After the assault, someone in a nearby car yelled at the attacker. The woman said it sounded like a lookout was warning the suspect that someone else was in the area. The suspect jumped into the passenger seat of the lookout’s car, described as olive-green with four doors, and the pair took off.

The woman was able to give a good description of her attacker to police. She said he is a 30-something black man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build, short hair, and a distinct Jamaican accent.

Investigators believe it’s possible the men followed the victim home from work, even though the woman said she didn’t notice anyone behind her.

West said, “I think it’s not uncommon that most people don’t really think about whether they’re being followed or not. So, I think that in this day and age, it’s not a bad idea to just be aware of your surroundings and cars that may be following you. If you think somebody is, then go down another street or pull into a police station if you can.”
