Marilyn Strickland (22%) is leading in the race for Washington state’s District 10 Congressional seat. The top two vote-getters will move on to the general election on Nov. 3. Trailing Strickland in 2020’s Primary election results is Beth Doglio (14%).

Behind Doglio are Kristine Reeves (13%), Rian Ingrim (11%), Jackson Maynard (8%), Dean Johnson (7%), Nancy Dailey Slotnick (7%), and Don Hewett (5%). The remaining candidates all pulled in less than 3% of the votes in early Primary election results.

With incumbent Rep. Denny Heck running for Lieutenant Governor, his District 10 seat is up for grabs in 2020. Nineteen people are running to fill that vacant seat, including eight Democrats and eight Republicans.

Heck, a Democrat himself, first won the 10th District seat when it was created following the 2010 census. Since then, he’s won reelection four times in 2014, 2016, and 2018, respectively, each with at least a 10% margin of victory over his Republican challenger. In 2018, he beat Republican Joseph Brumbles 61.5% to 38.5%.

Heck is leading the race for Lieutenant Governor. He had initially announced his retirement from Congress in December 2019, citing a lack of “civility” in Washington, D.C.
