Student brings gun to Kent elementary school

A Kent elementary school student has been suspended for bringing a gun to school.

Chris Loftis, a spokesperson for Soos Creek Elementary, said the boy thought the gun was “shiny and cool,” and he wanted to show it to his friends.

“There’s a parent out there who didn’t secure a handgun when there are young children in the house,” Loftis said. “As a society, as adults, we’ve got to do better than that.”

Loftis said the gun was not loaded and the student had no intention of using it.

Police are investigating the incident.
