Stylist reveals she cut hair of Cafe Racer shooter after massacre

A West Seattle hairdresser claims she cut Ian Stawicki’s
hair and trimmed his beard after the gunman shot and
killed four people at Seattle’s Cafe Racer and
another in downtown Seattle. She says he gave no
indications anything was out of the ordinary.

The
West Seattle Herald reports the hairdresser, who
spoke on condition of anonymity, had been warned of a
manhunt for the gunman and had locked her doors. But she
says Stawicki appeared at her shop shortly after claiming
it was his daughter’s birthday and he needed to get a trim
and “make it look good for my daughter.”

The hairdresser tells the Herald Stawicki was holding a
blueberry plant he had purchased at a nearby nursery,
which he claimed was a present for his daughter. Stawicki
had no children.

“My daughter can watch this grow as she grows up,” the
hairdresser says Stawicki told her.

The woman says the gunman appeared “completely calm” but
appeared to have spots of blood on his face. He
reportedly claimed it was from picking pimples.

Stawicki reportedly spent about 15 minutes total at the
salon, borrowed her phone in an unsuccessful effort to
reach someone, gave her $20 and left.

“He was so calm. He seemed nice to me. I didn’t know.
If he had acted a little weird I would know,” the
hairdresser tells the Herald.

Stawicki shot and killed himself soon after as police
approached him in a nearby neighborhood.
