Popular Sultan eatery Vick’s Burger Shack burns down overnight without insurance

Vick’s Burger Shack, a popular eatery in Sultan over the past decade, went up in flames on Aug. 9 at approximately midnight.
The fire destroyed the entire business. The owners of Vick’s Burger Shack believe the restaurant suffered $80,000 to $100,000 in damage.
“It was just devastating – couldn’t believe the amount of damage done,” Jennifer Vick, daughter of the owners of Vick’s Burger Shack, told KIRO 7. “I think we’re mostly still in shock.”
The fire will not be investigated as a case of arson, the responding fire marshal confirmed. The owners of Vick’s Burger Shack believe the fire was caused by an equipment malfunction.

No insurance for Vick’s Burger Shack
To make matters worse, Jennifer revealed to KIRO 7 that her parents did not have insurance for the business, as they recently switched insurance companies. There was a clerical error during the transition, so Vick’s Burger Shack had zero insurance when it erupted in flames.
The family created a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of the repairs. As of this reporting, more than $16,500 has been raised.
“It would be real easy to be crying and not know where to go, but the community is really rallying and carrying us through this,” Vick told KIRO 7. “We’re grateful for them.”
Vick’s Burger Shack had a total of seven employees, all of whom are suddenly out of work.
“Please help them to rebuild,” Vick wrote in the GoFundMe. “This was the only source of income for them, and they are devastated for their employees who are suddenly out of a job.”
The family is also considering buying a food truck to start serving the Sultan community Vick’s burgers once more.
