Suspect in murder, dismemberment arrested in Seattle 3 years later

Jan 6, 2015, 11:02 AM | Updated: 11:59 am

Nearly four years after body parts were discovered in a Seattle recycling plant, police have arrested a suspect in the murder of Donald Meyer.

Forensic evidence linked Scott Halfhill of Seattle to the murder and dismemberment of Meyer.

Prosecutors issued a warrant for Halfhill’s arrest on Friday and officers arrested him Monday night after staking out his car.

Police say Meyer, 59, was a father and guitar player who lived in Ballard with his cat and mostly kept to himself.

Meyer’s family last saw him on June 16, 2011. Police found his remains on a recycling plant conveyor belt on East Marginal Way and at a greenbelt on Eastlake Ave. about three weeks later.

Halfhill was booked into King County Jail on investigation of murder after being interviewed by detectives.
