Police have reportedly shot and killed a man suspected of stabbing his cousin and then holding his 3-year-old daughter hostage during a standoff on Sunday night.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 8400 block of 49th Avenue SE in Olympia around 5:30 p.m., according to Q-13. A man with life-threatening stab wounds was taken to a hospital. He said he had been stabbed by his cousin.

The suspect grabbed his daughter and retreated back inside the house after officers initially got him and another adult out of the home, Q-13 reports. Police said the man was using the girl as a shield.

A SWAT officer fired a single shot and struck the suspect, according to Q-13. The girl is reportedly safe and the suspect is dead.
