A man was killed by members of a SWAT team after a nine-hour standoff near Lake Stevens Saturday.

The man, 29, moved toward a gun before being shot, KIRO 7 reports.

The shooting occurred in the 5700 block of 123rd Avenue NE.

The SWAT team arrived around 1 a.m. on Saturday, which is when negotiations began. KING 5 reports that around 7:20 a.m. the man dropped his weapon; when law enforcement moved in he approached the gun, which is when two SWAT members shot him.

The man died at Providence Regional Medical Center.
