A man who died while attending Burning Man, a week-long, large-scale desert festival, has been identified as a Washington resident.

The man was ID’d as Vadim Kruglov, 37, a Russian who was living in Tacoma. He was identified using fingerprints, according to the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office.

Kruglov was found dead on Aug. 30. His body was found in a pool of blood. The cause and manner of death are under investigation, according to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. It is being investigated as a homicide.

“Vadim Kruglov’s family has been notified of his death,” the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office stated. “Our sincerest condolences from the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office go out to Vadim Kruglov’s family for their tragic loss.”

Deputies called to investigate Burning Man death

Just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 30, a festival participant contacted a sheriff’s deputy after discovering a man lying in a pool of blood.

The deputy described the man as a “single white adult male lying on the ground, obviously deceased.” The sheriff’s office interviewed “several participants in the immediate area” while processing the scene for evidence.

Burning Man is cooperating with law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with any additional information concerning this case to contact Investigator Josh Nicholson at (775) 273-2641 or jnicholson@pershingcountynv.gov.
